What Is AIESEC?
AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, not-for-profit organisation run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Our members are interested in world issues, leadership and management.
The organisation was founded way back in 1948 in by 7 students from 7 different countries to promote the idea of exchange between young people in areas torn apart by war. The name was originally an acronym for International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences in French.
From a relatively small project, it evolved and became the world’s largest youth-run organisation, with over 86,000 members still working for the same mission: to create a sense of cultural sensitivity, responsibility and harmony among the youth, to work for peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential.
Focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development, AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to participate in international exchanges and internships, participating in a global learning environment.
